How is CBD legal
Products containing CBD are flourishing on the market, but the information circulating about them is not always true. We are here to fix it. Two molecules are the main components of the Cannabis plant: CBD (Cannabidiol) and THC (Tetrahydrocannabinol). This last molecule is the one responsible for the hallucinogenic effect of the plant, and therefore its prohibition. For now, the only products containing CBD are capsules, ointments or liquids for cigarettes. but many more will be added to the list of products already on sale. This is why the health authorities wish to clarify the situation. For starters, it is useful to remember something essential: The possession, sale, production or use of Cannabis is strictly prohibited and punishable by law. Cannabis products (ie hemp) sold commercially are subject to some regulation. Only the seeds and fibers of plants are marketable or usable. The flowers or the leaf are forbidden. In addition, only cannabis varieties with a THC content of less than 0.2% are legal. Small precision: it is the plant that must contain less than 0.2% THC. No finished product containing THC, even at the lowest level, can be consumed. Only exception made: Medications authorized by the ANSM or the European Commission.
In summary: only hemp varieties listed in the Public Health Code can be used for industrial and commercial purposes. The use of other parts of the plant than seeds or fibers is strictly prohibited. Only products containing no trace of THC are legal. No advertising can be made by CBD merchants or producers on the therapeutic virtues of CBD products.
